I was reading Brand New’s coverage of MSN’s new shitty rebrand and my sentiments towards msn.com reflected those of the article: I haven’t even thought of MSN in many years and the whole portal concept feels antiquated. I can’t imagine using MSN today.

But, hey, I’m a sucker for something new and not only did they get a new logo, they’ve also drastically redesigned their website. I’m actually very impressed that a design this light and airy came out of the pits of Microsoft design hell. It’s really a quite good design.

However! The first thing I noticed was the Glenn Beck article and accompanying excerpt talking about how he’s single-handedly revitalizing the “ailing book industry.” As such, I have decided to file MSN back under “useless” and forget about it for another eight years.

Continuing my yearly tradition of just completely fucking up some pumpkins. This year I tried to create a magical pony but I ended up making something that looks more like a deranged cat with junk in the trunk and a scotty-dog head. So I added some stars and a rainbow to help it out.

The second picture illustrates the only time the pony got to play in its natural environment, (rainbows) before being turned into compost.

The invite-only web is starting to irritate me. I love exclusive communities and I love new technology, but I do not like waiting to get in somewhere only to finally get in and realize no one else I care about is in there so the entire social aspect is busted. Case in point: Google Wave.

Grizzly Bear last night at the Crystal Ballroom.

I wasn’t sure how the show would be because they’re such a chill band. It turned out to be such a good experience, it just felt good the whole time. That sounds weird. The music coupled with the lighting was a really cool experience, I loved the lights inside staggered mason jars. I wish I had last night on DVD. Or Blu-Ray. Or DivX.

The openers were the Morning Benders, and they too were solid.

I love shows.

I watched Kindergarten Cop after work today. It’s been sitting on my coffee table in its little Netflix sleeve for about a month. I rented it for the express purpose of hearing Arnold ask a small child about eating other peoples’ lunches.
